PEGNIOTIPIES

-What did you say?
-To remember to play.
To find time that is not measured in money
To play with pencils, paper, scissors, and colors.
And to leave space for images to be born without predetermined use.
This is how this week in March 2024 at Roland’s studio in Berlin came about.
12 works, the same starting point.
A white paper 50 x 70.
A form that closes the pores of a fine silk mesh stretched on a frame, allowing material to pass through in some places and blocking it in others.
The dance of colors on the frame.
The anticipation of the image to be revealed on the paper.
Colors seep through the mesh and imprint on the paper with the pressure of the spatula.
Some papers will pass three or four times under the frame.
Colors and masks will give a new dimension to the form.
They will break it, pierce it, and highlight it.
The surprise each time the printed paper comes to light.
The inside and the outside.
The same, differently.
The not and the is.
The art of screen printing is usually used to produce multiple copies.
We used it to create unique works. Monotypes.
Inviting the random to make its mark. Playnotypes.
