Three Bridges

  • Curation:
    Tenia Menegaki
  • Opening:
    01 June 2023

A loose summary of works and a sound archive designed for performance by Yorgia Karidi. Her work focuses on the field of intimacy that can develop between the viewer and the creative process. The material is reconstructed and transcribed under the symbolic phrase "Free Things," emphasizing all the in-between, unused, invisible, non-commercial, unregistered elements that have the potential to liberate and create unexplored possibilities. At the same time, she is working on the same theme with a group of teenagers from the KETHEA transition school, creating a documentary with them.

At Apodec, three ceramic works, a hand-printed serigraph with a limited numbered edition, and a 60-minute sound piece playing continuously through the speakers will be exhibited.

Yorgia Karidi

Artist

Yorgia Karidi is a visual artist, musician, and performer whose works and "live sets" focus on listening, vocal qualities, and the intersections between media and art forms. She works with painting, sculpture, video, performance, sound, and verbal scores. She has extensively explored the human voice in performance, with a desire, in the words of Elke Auer, to understand the historical, political, and cultural context of a woman's voice in the world.
